Formación

• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in plant breeding.

Are you ready to contribute to developing new varieties as a pepper breeder?

This is why you want to join us as a Breeder: because you would like to develop a competitive pipeline of crop varieties in line with Enza Zaden's long-term vision, meeting internal production and sales requirements as well as external market needs, thereby bringing added value.

Your job as a Breeder

1. Planning: Translate breeding targets into an operational breeding plan.
2. Preparation: Prepare all activities related to the breeding project.
3. Execution: Make plant and line selections at critical moments in the breeding cycle.
4. Record keeping: Maintain detailed records throughout breeding cycles.
5. Decision-making: Decide when to advance material to R2, plan trial productions, and conduct screening trials.
6. Handover: Transfer R3 material to Seed Production according to specifications and register in the designated system (currently Varmas).
7. Implementation: Apply developed technology and traits in the breeding program.

Main internal contacts

• Sales Representatives, Product Specialists: Collaborate during market visits to gather market trend information and align messaging.
• Senior Scientist, Biotech Breeders: Stay updated on the latest technologies.
• SO and Seed Production: Handover of R3 and P2 material and provide producibility information.
• PAT teams: Participate and contribute as a team member.
• Assistant Breeders and Breeding Technicians: Share knowledge and material.

What you bring as a Breeder

• Higher professional education (HBO, Bachelor)
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
• Bachelor of Science degree
• Thorough knowledge of plant breeding, modern breeding methods, and phytopathology
• Familiarity with cultivation techniques
• Sufficient market knowledge
• Proficiency in English and the local language, both written and verbal

• This position cannot be filled on an interim basis.
