Join a leading company in the Food and Beverage Manufacturing industry as a Breeder. This full-time position focuses on developing new crop varieties, requiring a strong background in plant breeding and modern methodologies. You will be deeply involved in planning breeding activities, executing selections, and collaborating with various teams, ensuring alignment with market needs and production targets.

Formación

• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in plant breeding.
• Thorough knowledge of modern breeding methods.

Are you ready to contribute to developing new varieties as a pepper breeder?

This position is ideal if you want to develop a competitive pipeline of crop varieties aligned with Enza Zaden's long-term vision, meeting internal production and sales targets, as well as external market needs, and bringing added value.

Your job as a Breeder

• Planning all activities of a breeding project : translating breeding targets into an operational breeding plan.
• Preparing all activities of a breeding project.
• Executing breeding activities : making correct plant and line selections at critical moments in the breeding cycle.
• Maintaining detailed records throughout breeding cycles.
• Deciding to advance material to R2, planning trial productions, and screening trials.
• Handover of R3 material to Seed Production according to defined specifications and registration in the designated system (currently Varmas).
• Implementing developed technology and traits in the breeding program.

Main internal contacts

• Sales Representatives, Product Specialists - collaborate during joint market visits to gather market trend information and align messaging.
• Senior Scientist, Biotech Breeders - stay updated with latest technologies.
• SO and Seed Production - handover of R3 and P2 material and producibility information.
• PAT teams - participate as a team member and provide input.
• Assistant Breeders and Breeding Technicians - exchange knowledge and materials.

What You Bring As a Breeder

• Higher professional education (HBO, Bachelor).
• 3 to 5 years relevant experience.
• Bachelor of Science degree.
• Thorough knowledge of plant breeding, modern breeding methods, and phytopathology.
• Familiarity with various cultivation techniques.
• Sufficient market knowledge.
• Proficiency in English and the local language, both written and verbal.
