You will be responsible for developing a comprehensive, current understanding of supply and demand fundamentals of biofuels and biofuels feedstocks, including production capacity, supply, trade flows, and demand, with particular attention to price dynamics. The role involves close collaboration with biofuels traders to support decision-making by providing timely, accurate data and analysis.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Research and maintain data on biofuels production plants, including current and projected future facilities, focusing on European plants with a global outlook as it impacts imports.
  2. Estimate current and future biofuels demand based on government mandates, collaborating with regulatory analysts for scenario analysis.
  3. Gather and analyze data on global biofuel feedstocks, such as vegetable oils and waste-based feedstocks, assessing their use and implications for mandates.
  4. Construct dynamic forward balances incorporating price sensitivity to market changes.
  5. Monitor and analyze key biofuel and feedstock prices globally, identifying relationships and providing market insights.
  6. Identify trading opportunities through scenario analysis, including market disruptions and policy changes; model long-term compliance strategies with renewable fuels of non-biological origin.
  7. Collaborate with energy market analysts to share data, insights, and coordinate market fundamentals.
  8. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for the trading team and senior management.

Qualifications and experience:

  • At least 3 years of market analytics experience in energy markets, preferably in trading and within biofuels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, math, or a quantitative field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience modeling supply and demand, creating forward balances, and analyzing price dynamics.
  • Experience working with traders to identify market data and trading opportunities is advantageous.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, especially in supply-demand modeling and understanding price formation and risks.
