AstraZeneca plc in Barcelona is seeking an experienced software engineer to deliver AI-native, full-stack software for clinical trials. You will own features end-to-end, writing production code for backend and frontend, and integrating AI capabilities directly into the product suite.

You will also help define how engineering teams build with AI, set conventions for AI-assisted development, and establish prompt engineering patterns and quality gates for AI-generated code.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production systems.
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Node.js, or similar) and frontend technologies (TypeScript, React, React Native).
• Experience building and operating RESTful & GraphQL APIs, with solid understanding of HTTP, JSON, and OpenAPI specifications.
• Experience with document-based storage (MongoDB or similar) and data streaming technologies (Kafka or similar).
• Practical, daily experience using AI-assisted development tools in your own coding workflow; able to articulate how AI tools change design, writing, testing, and reviews.
• Experience building or integrating AI/LLM features into production applications (not just prototypes).
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with AWS cloud services.
• Strong testing discipline: unit, integration, and BDD frameworks.
• Familiarity with regulated or compliance-sensitive software development environments.

Responsabilités

• Full-Stack Product Delivery: Write clean, well-tested production code across backend and frontend, owning outcomes from design through deployment.
• AI-Native Development: Design and implement LLM-powered workflows, automation, and AI-driven experiences; develop prompt patterns and testing strategies.
• Backend and APIs: Build scalable backend and BFF services, RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and data streaming pipelines.
• Frontend Experience: Contribute to React and React Native applications when needed.
• Reliability and Observability: Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, improve monitoring.
• Platform and DevOps Partnership: Collaborate on IaC, CI/CD, automated deployment and recovery, and containers.
• Secure and Compliant Engineering: Operate in regulated environments with disciplined practices.
• Collaboration and Mentorship: Lead code reviews, mentor peers, contribute to planning and retrospectives.
• Progression and Impact: Deliver value quickly and shape AI-first engineering practices.
