AstraZeneca is seeking an Associate Director, Data Scientist in Barcelona to advance AI methods for clinical development. You will drive trials design, biomarker strategies, and safety evaluations with cross-functional teams across BioPharmaceuticals.

The role blends research with practical deployment across regions. You will lead the development of robust data products and collaborate with regulatory, clinical, and study teams while using modern AI tooling and cloud platforms.

Formación

• PhD preferred or MSc with exceptional computational track record.
• Experience developing AI/ML methods for clinical, biomedical, or drug development settings.

Responsabilidades

• Develop, evaluate, and deploy reusable AI/ML methods for clinical trial settings including design support and predictive modelling.
• Lead end-to-end data science projects from problem framing to adoption within study teams.
• Partner with Clinical Development, Biometrics, and Regulatory to embed AI strategy into study design workflows.
• Build reusable data products with a software mindset ensuring quality and maintainability.
• Apply cutting-edge methodologies including foundation models and causal AI with clear evaluation criteria.
• Drive data-centric AI practices: curate datasets for training, benchmarking, and evaluation.
• Contribute to AI evaluation frameworks for clinical/regulatory settings.
• Engage with internal communities and external forums; contribute to publications and conferences.
• Provide coaching to Senior Data Scientists and peers to promote best practices.
