Job summary

Maisa, a Europe-based AI startup, is seeking a backend engineer to design, build and maintain backend services in Go and Python across a microservices architecture deployed on Kubernetes. You will own features end-to-end, work with clients and cross-functional teams, write clean, production-ready code, and contribute to architectural decisions.

The role offers fully remote work with optional hubs in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia, and a fast-paced environment where you shape the culture from day

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
• Production experience with Go and Python; Go preferred but ramp-up is possible.
• Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with Kafka or similar message queue systems.
• Familiarity with Redis and MongoDB.
• Experience working with Kubernetes and containerised services in production.
• Comfortable with AWS and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
• Able to work in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment with high ownership.
• Strong communication skills; collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams.
• Genuine curiosity about AI and how it's reshaping product development.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services in Go and Python across a microservices architecture on Kubernetes.
• Own features end-to-end from design through deployment and iteration.
• Work with clients and client-facing teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Write clean, well-tested production-ready code and participate in code reviews.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and raise the technical bar across the team.
• Maintain and improve existing client implementations while building new capabilities.
