Lighthouse is seeking a Backend Engineer focused on data acquisition to design and develop high-performance systems mainly in Rust that collect billions of data points from the web. You will work where backend engineering meets the web, including HTTP stacks, proxies and browser tooling.

You will own the quality of your code, partner with crawler engineers, DevOps and Security, and contribute to a scalable, secure crawling platform used by 85,000+ users worldwide.

Formación

• Experience building, deploying and running production backend services in a cloud environment.
• Proficient with Rust or C/C++, or proven track record in another backend language with drive to learn Rust.
• Strong understanding of how the web works: HTTP, TCP/IP, TLS, and proxies.
• R&D mindset: curious about browsers and network stacks; comfortable with ambiguity.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills; comfortable with packet captures and profilers.
• Excellent communication and teamwork; fluent in English.

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop high-performance data acquisition systems in Rust.
• Build in-house proxy layer and browser tooling for data collection.
• Debug blocked sources by probing the wire and alternative approaches.
• Create robust, reusable interfaces and guardrails for AI agents.
• Ensure code quality with tests, observability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with crawler engineers, DevOps and Security to ship scalable solutions.
