Smartscale, a cybersecurity company in the Barcelona area, is seeking an experienced backend developer with strong Python and C skills. You will design, build, and operate backend services and microservices, collaborating with DevOps, frontend teams, and stakeholders to deliver scalable, production-grade systems.

You will work with PostgreSQL and MongoDB, Docker containers, and Linux-based environments, owning the full development lifecycle from analysis to deployment in a mission-driven B2G

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development experience and shipping production-grade systems.
• Strong hands-on Python skills and proficiency in C programming.
• Solid understanding of system architecture principles and Linux OS.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and Docker.
• Experience with microservices architecture and DevOps practices.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, with a focus on Python and C.
• Work with both SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Develop and deploy containerised applications using Docker.
• Implement and maintain microservices architecture.
• Debug and improve running systems to ensure stability and performance.
• Optimise system performance and troubleshoot production issues.
• Collaborate with Frontend developers, DevOps, and other stakeholders.
• Own end-to-end development: from requirement analysis and design through to testing and deployment.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, with a focus on Python and C

Backend Development Experience 5+ years, with a track record of shipping scalable, production-grade systems

Programming Languages Strong hands-on Python skills; proficiency in C programming

System Architecture & OS Strong understanding of system architecture principles; Experience with internal OS development; Working knowledge of Linux OS

Database & Containerization Proficiency in both SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB); Hands-on experience with Docker for containerisation

Architectural Patterns Experience with microservices architecture

DevOps & Infrastructure Familiarity with DevOps practices and on-prem infrastructure
