Job summary

Grid Dynamics is seeking a Simulation & Autonomy Systems Architect to join a senior architecture team on a construction-autonomy program for a global heavy-equipment manufacturer. The role centers on on-machine perception, data platform, and autonomy behavior, with a workflow that turns architecture into working software and rapid AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in robotics or autonomous systems with hands-on ownership of behavior, planning or control software in deployed autonomy stacks.
• Proven design of fault detection, degraded modes, minimum-risk maneuvers and fallback behavior in fielded systems.
• Experience integrating simulation into autonomy development and validation loops with sensor models and data contracts (NVIDIA Isaac Sim, CARLA).
• Experience leading FMEA, fault-tree or hazard analyses with functional safety teams under ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF) or similar.

Responsibilities

• Own the program's simulation strategy including data flow between real and simulated systems.
• Lead system-wide failure analysis across perception, planning, control and hardware.
• Design degraded modes and minimum-risk conditions with health monitors and fallback paths.
• Architect fast safety layers (e.g., collision-imminent braking) with low false positives.
• Guide system-level hardware/software architecture and mentor engineers.
