A leading global company is seeking an Automation Solutions Engineer to join their International Reliability Maintenance Engineering team. This role focuses on enhancing productivity through software solutions and requires travel for technical support. Formación

  • Non-internship experience in professional software development required.

Overview

Automation Solutions Engineer, part of the International Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon. The role focuses on designing, programming, testing, and implementing software solutions and processes that enhance productivity and quality at fulfillment sites. The location is flexible across Italy, Spain, UK, Germany and Luxembourg. The role requires travel to sites for support around 30% and is within the SEU-LATAM AE Team scope (Europe and South America).

This international role offers the opportunity to impact multiple Amazon sites worldwide by managing large-scale projects, providing technical support to local teams, and creating innovative solutions to adopt world-class automated technologies and systems.

Responsibilities
  • Understand and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet, ASi), motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Program and source code in-house built solutions based on PLC or PC controllers and SCADA/OEE platforms.
  • Lead international innovative solutions related to Automation Systems.
  • Project Management of large-scale initiatives requiring coordination of site-based Automation Engineers to meet business goals.
  • Apply Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to troubleshoot engineering issues, support local teams in investigating root causes, and plan actions to mitigate downtime of critical assets.
  • Create, optimize and monitor KPIs to control the efficiency, availability, and quality of machines, generating improvement reports.
  • Manage and coordinate with Vendors to resolve tickets for local or network-wide issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and decision making for collaboration projects or initiatives with other Amazon teams; act as a key stakeholder for technical and major network support requests.
  • Ensure remote troubleshooting capability is available on a rotational basis to provide 24/7/365 support for hardware or controls software systems within site locations.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
  • Experience (non-internship) in professional software development.
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering.
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
  • Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology.
