Could you be the full-time ATC Onboard Design Engineer in Madrid we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your on-board design expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside young and proactive teammates.

You'll develop a fully functional ATC On-Board System Description & Installation Proposal, noticing the differences with standard solutions by applying specific rules and project requirements. Establish its hardware/software configuration and application data features. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (RAMS, validation), develop interfacing with the rest of the project's systems and with the Test & Commissioning team until the system is commissioned, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of liaising with other teams to ensure correct communication of design requirements and decisions to be assessed, tested, or demonstrated.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Design systems and provide related documents (specification, architecture, interface, etc.).
  • Take responsibility for the overall performance of the system and the allocation of the project performance requirements, ensuring these are met.
  • Solve technical issues concerning the application project.
  • Manage configurations, change control, and requirements.
  • Participate in Gate Reviews (provide status updates on system activities).
  • Support application projects in current and future ATC ONB projects.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • University degree (MEng preferred) in engineering related to electrical, electronic, or automation processes.
  • 2 or 3 years of experience as an Onboard Railways Engineer or similar in other markets.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of UNISIG Subsets, especially Subset-026, 108, 027 & 076.
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • French language skills are a plus.
  • Experience with CAD (electric/mechanic) applications is advantageous.

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a transformative journey — the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from monotonous routines.
  • Work with new security standards for rail signalling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and helpful colleagues.
  • Contribute to innovative projects.
  • Utilize our cooperative working environment.
  • Steer your career across functions and countries.
  • Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning training.
  • Progress towards roles like On-Board Department Manager.
  • Receive a fair, dynamic reward package recognizing your performance and potential, along with comprehensive social coverage.

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee pride when you travel on our trains with friends or family. If you’re ready for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
