Morningstar DBRS Assistant Vice President Private Credit Ratings (Madrid or Frankfurt)

Morningstar DBRS's Private Corporate Credit team seeks a highly motivated and analytical professional with four to six years of credit analysis experience, preferably with high-yield corporate issuers. As an Assistant Vice President, you will assess the creditworthiness of small to medium-sized highly leveraged companies across diverse industries. This role offers a unique opportunity to join a globally respected credit ratings agency, work alongside seasoned experts, and gain exposure to private capital markets.

You will contribute to Morningstar DBRS's mission of providing independent, insightful credit opinions that help investors and market participants make informed decisions. The role involves interaction with senior leaders, lenders, investors, and bankers, keeping you at the forefront of market and industry trends.

This position is based in Madrid or Frankfurt with a hybrid work arrangement (minimum three days in-office per week).

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead surveillance of a portfolio of small to medium-sized highly leveraged companies.
  2. Conduct fundamental credit analysis and prepare high-impact rating committee packages.
  3. Lead dynamic rating committee discussions and communicate credit views.
  4. Build trusted relationships with market participants including lenders, investors, and bankers.
  5. Manage a diverse portfolio ensuring timely and high-quality credit opinions.
  6. Support process improvements and database development.
  7. Deliver timely and insightful credit research in writing.

Qualifications:

  • Four to six years of experience in credit analysis, corporate lending, or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related discipline (CFA preferred).
  • Strong foundation in credit analysis and capital markets, ideally with exposure to high-yield or middle-market credits.
  • Familiarity with legal documentation related to corporate debt and loans.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and deep understanding of financial statements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
