What we’re looking for
We are looking for a senior researcher for our Area of Communication Sciences to carry out research and teaching activities (Assistant / Associate Professor of Advertising & Public Relations) in the Faculty of Communication Sciences.
Key responsibilities
- To teach at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- To publish articles in high-impact journals.
- To be an active and collaborative researcher, capable of establishing a research group focused on their area of expertise.
- To actively contribute to the preparation, presentation, and successful acquisition of competitive research projects and grants, working collaboratively as part of a research team.
- To provide high-quality education through teaching to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the fields of Communication Sciences (Advertising and Public Relations).
- To administer and / or coordinate Academic Programs, as well as any other type of administrative duties assigned by the faculty.
- Contribute to the development and revision of the curriculum of the degree program in Advertising and Public Relations as well as other undergraduate degrees.

Selection process
In May 2018, EURAXESS awarded the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya with an Excellence Award for Research in Human Resources, which ensures that candidates are selected purely based on excellence criteria. The UIC Barcelona selection process involves :
- An independent board of experts that assesses all applications and decides who will move onto the next stage. All members of this board are from outside UIC Barcelona.
- A public oral defense by finalist applicants : a presentation about their career (both academic and teaching) and their research projects. Following the presentation, the examination panel will ask a series of questions to conclude the defense. The defense should last a total of 60 minutes.
What we offer
- A three-year tenure track position with a candidate evaluation at 18 months.
- Competitive salary, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications.
- UIC is committed to supporting the faculty member in both their teaching and research activities. The candidate may receive funding to attend one national or international conference per year, up to a maximum of €1,500 gross per year (subject to invoice).
If selected for the position, the candidate will be offered a full-time contract and a three-year tenure track agreement will be established, extendable for an additional year. The starting salary will vary depending on the candidate's profile and prior experience. Throughout the tenure track period, the candidate will be expected to develop their work in the areas of research, teaching, and institutional service, with clearly defined objectives agreed upon at the outset. Based on the achievement of these objectives, salary bonuses may be awarded. At the end of the tenure track, and having successfully met the agreed objectives, the candidate will be granted a permanent position with a salary determined according to the current salary scales and their academic and research experience.

Requirements
- PhD in Advertising and Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Fashion, or related field.
- Working knowledge of current trends in advertising and digital communication.
- Relevant academic publications in indexed journals.
- Ability to work in a team and participate in curriculum development activities.
Assessment criteria
The following aspects of the candidate’s CV will be evaluated :
- Knowledge and professional experience.
- The ability to carry out independent research. Particular attention will be paid to candidates with experience as a principal researcher, as well as those who have made valuable contributions in terms of scientific productivity as part of a research group led by another researcher. Research stays at prestigious international centers for Social Communication will also be highly valued.
- Experience teaching at university level.
- Experience in academic administration (such as program coordination and management, experience writing reports and academic reports as well as research projects).
- Previous teaching experience at UIC is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Experience teaching in English, Spanish and / or Catalan.
- Accreditation by Aneca or AQU is preferred, but not mandatory.
