A leading IT recruitment firm is seeking a Principal AI Engineer in Barcelona. The role involves leading the design and deployment of real-world AI systems, including Generative AI and MLOps. We’re looking for a Principal AI Engineer to lead the design, build, and deployment of real-world AI systems – not just prototypes or prompt-driven demos. This is a high-impact, hands-on role within a confidential, global initiative where you’ll work on advanced Generative AI, MLOps, and traditional machine learning solutions.

What you’ll doBuild and deploy Generative AI systems, including custom Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelinesLead machine learning projects in areas such as predictive maintenance, optimisation, and automationTranslate business needs into scalable, production-ready AI productsMentor other engineers and contribute to the technical direction of the teamDrive best practices in MLOps, from model lifecycle management to CI / CD and monitoring

Example problems you’ll tackleDiagnosing noisy or inaccurate responses from deployed LLMsBuilding predictive models from very limited or sparse historical dataScaling GenAI pipelines with strong performance, compliance, and traceability
