UST in Madrid is seeking an Application Owner / Python Developer to design, develop, and support business-critical applications for a banking client. The role centers on Python/Django, API and data flows, and end-to-end ownership of the application lifecycle.

You will collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, and infrastructure to ensure security, compliance, and reliable service delivery. Hybrid work in Madrid offers 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Formación

• Linux-based application operations and deployment.
• Strong Python development skills with Django.
• Experience with SQL databases (Oracle and Trino preferred).
• Experience with background processing and caching (Celery and Redis).

Responsabilidades

• Act as the primary point of contact for an application which manages risk and control data, executes controls, and reports results.
• Plan and manage the application lifecycle, bridging business stakeholders, development, infrastructure, and vendors.
• Ensure applications meet business requirements and deliver reliable services to end users.
• Ensure all environments follow internal security guidelines, audit requirements, and industry standards.
• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications and services.
• Take end-to-end ownership of assigned applications.
• Manage application lifecycle including enhancements, upgrades, and decommissioning.
• Ensure application availability, performance, security, and compliance.

We are looking for an Application Owner / Python Developer with strong expertise in designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting business-critical applications to be part of the project of the client from the banking sector.

Work Location: Work model in hybrid in Madrid (3 days at the office, 2 WFH,)

Main tasks and accountabilities will be:

• Act as the primary point of contact for an application which manages risk and control data, executes controls, and reports results.
• Plan and manage throughout the application lifecycle, bridging the gap between business stakeholders, development teams, infrastructure teams, and external vendors.
• Ensure that applications meet business requirements, comply with organizational standards, and deliver reliable services to end users.
• Ensure that all environments follow internal security guidelines, audit requirements, and industry standards.
• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications and services.
• Take end-to-end ownership of assigned applications.
• Manage application lifecycle, including enhancements, upgrades, and decommissioning.
• Ensure application availability, performance, security, and compliance.

What do we expect from you?

• Linux-based application operations and deployment.
• Strong Python development skills with Django.
• Experience with SQL and enterprise databases (Oracle and Trino preferred).
• Experience with background processing and caching technologies. Eg. (Celery and Redis.)
• Experience with Git-based development and CI/CD workflows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, especially in multi-system environments.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating environment readiness, issues, and dependencies.

Nice to have

• NGINX/Gunicorn administration.
• REST API design and system integrations.
• Authentication and authorization experience (SSO, RBAC).
