Research Position Details

We announce a PhD position within the TRansient Plasmas in Planetary Atmospheres (TRAPPA) group at the IAA - CSIC in Granada, Spain. The position focuses on investigating atmospheric electricity phenomena, lightning detection, and chemical processes in the atmosphere using satellite and ground-based measurements, as well as modeling tools like WRF.

Employment Details

The position offers full-time employment as a PhD student for 3 years, with a possible extension of 1 year. The starting date is negotiable but ideally September 16, 2025. The gross salary is 1600 EUR/month with 14 payments, including full social security coverage and health insurance.

Requirements
  • Master Degree or equivalent in Physics, Applied Mathematics, or Meteorology
  • High proficiency in programming (Python, Fortran), data analysis, and English (C1 level)
  • Strong academic record and motivation
  • Experience in satellite data analysis and atmospheric modeling is a plus
Additional Information

Applicants can apply even if they have not yet obtained their Master’s degree but plan to do so by early September 2025, provided they register as a doctoral student at the University of Granada by then.
