As part of the EU & Africa JIT and Structures AME team, this role supports the Digital Twin strategy for these business groups. The adoption of Digital Twin tools follows a 7-level approach, with this role focusing on level 5, in close collaboration with levels 1, 3, and 4.
Data (point clouds) from Level 1 – Passive Visualization – will serve as the basis for 3D model creation.
Level 5 – Virtual Commissioning involves virtual building of machines, equipment, and production systems using geometry-based models to simulate processes and define bases for future PLC programming. This includes DFA & DFAA assessments, slow builds, and verification of simulations provided by equipment suppliers.
Level 3 – 3D Layout Planning entails creating digital models for 3D layout planning of active production and logistics processes, enabling plant teams to simulate various scenarios, minimize capital investment, and develop models for RFQ projects to optimize costs and competitiveness. These models will also support Level 4 simulations.
Level 4 – Discrete Event Simulation focuses on creating digital models of active production processes, allowing simulation of scenarios, validation of projects, and supporting virtual commissioning of equipment.
The digital twins will be used to inform decision-making, reduce customer impact risks, maximize capital investment value, and identify cost-saving opportunities, while enhancing employee engagement through minimized learning curves.
This role will share lessons learned and best practices, promote a culture of digitalization within Lear, and support other Digital Twin initiatives as required by the Digital Twin Lead. It will be part of the AME – Digital Twin team.
As a member of the EU&AF AME team, collaborate with stakeholders to create and deploy digital twin models that maximize benefits for Lear, considering capital expenditure, labor, and customer impact risks.
Other tasks, projects, and responsibilities may be individually assigned.
