Amazon Technologies Systems Engineer, Reliability and Automation Engineering Team (RAE)

As an Amazon Technologies Systems Engineer, you will be the primary point of contact for internal customers and partners, driving the implementation and continuous improvement of maintenance, repair, and support solutions for Amazon's Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging systems within Amazon’s Fulfillment Centers. You will lead cross-functional engineering and support teams in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance and reliability of these systems.

You will analyze large-scale data from PLCs, sensors, controls equipment, and maintenance records to identify improvement opportunities related to preventative maintenance, system optimizations, reliability metrics, and overall equipment effectiveness. Using this data, you will engage with customers to understand and document business requirements, drive root cause analysis, and manage implementation programs for corrective actions. You will apply your expertise in robotics, mechatronics, reliability engineering, and system lifecycle management to build scalable solutions ensuring optimal performance and availability of workcells across Amazon’s global fulfillment centers.

Key job responsibilities
  • Utilize data analytics, root cause analysis, design of experiments, and Six Sigma methods to improve reliability and availability of automation equipment and robotics & mechatronics systems.
  • Develop and deliver data-driven analyses based on equipment failure and downtime data to justify changes and recommendations.
  • Lead Kaizen and process improvement events, including Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA), to reduce downtime and optimize equipment performance.
  • Engage cross-functional teams of maintenance technicians, engineers, product owners, and leaders to deliver structured problem solving.
  • Design, pilot, and implement new preventive maintenance standards, interval adjustments, and work instruction streamlining based on reliability analysis.
  • Develop automated reporting using SQL and Quicksight to provide actionable insights on equipment uptime, failures, and key metrics.
  • Guide maintenance teams and technicians on equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, interacting with Engineering, Operations, and Facilities.
  • This role may require travel up to 50%.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience in reliability, manufacturing, or lifecycle engineering, with a focus on robotics and mechatronics
  • Lean Six Sigma certification and success in leading Kaizen events
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, or R for data extraction, analysis, and visualization
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in robotics and mechatronics maintenance
  • Knowledge of robotics system components, control networks, and electrical systems
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Experience with SCADA systems and KPIs
  • Strong troubleshooting and data analysis skills
  • Ability to influence and interact with all management levels
