Job summary

Flight Centre Travel Group is seeking a Software Engineer in Barcelona to design, build, and evolve AI-native travel tech. You will work in agile squads, owning features from design through deployment while collaborating across international teams.

The role emphasizes backend Rails development, containerised services, and integration of LLM APIs to deliver intelligent search, recommendations, and automation for travellers worldwide.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of professional software development experience (backend focus).
• Strong proficiency in backend development in Ruby on Rails preferably but open.
• Experience with containers and API design.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices: CI/CD, containers, IaC, automated testing.
• Comfortable working in English within an international team.
• Experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) into production applications.
• Ability to design effective prompts and evaluate AI-generated outputs.
• Spanish language skills considered a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and microservices.
• Develop and integrate LLM-powered features (intelligent search, travel recommendations, document processing, personalised content).
• Write clean, testable code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Own features from design through deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate in agile/Scrum squads with international team members.
