Whitehole, a Family Office based in Donostia, seeks a Junior AI Engineer to own the data platform behind investment decisions and build AI systems on top of it.

You will ingest market data daily, develop ETL pipelines, manage databases, and implement data quality checks. The role emphasizes robust validation, monitoring, and responsible use of LLMs within production workflows. Fluency in English or Spanish is required.

Formación

• University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Physics or Mathematics.
• Up to two years of professional experience; internships count.
• Based in Donostia, or willing to relocate; Fluency in English or Spanish.
• Advanced Python and strong software engineering fundamentals.
• SQL and familiarity with databases (relational or NoSQL).
• Comfort with Linux and the command line, Git, and containers.
• Experience with APIs and structured/unstructured data.
• Experience building non-trivial projects.
• Ability to plan tasks with LLMs and design robust validation mechanisms.
• Cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and time-series/financial data exposure is a plus.

We are looking for a Junior Artificial Intelligence Engineer with a passion for financial markets. This role blends technical expertise with financial insight, offering a unique chance to contribute to our cutting-edge technology research team.

About the role

You will own the data platform behind our investment decisions, and build the AI systems that run on top of it:

• Daily ingestion of market data from external providers,
• ETL/ELT pipelines,
• databases and storage,
• automated data quality checks,
• alerts and monitoring,
• diagnosis and resolution of incidents: failed jobs, incomplete series, provider changes,
• LLM-based systems: retrieval workflows, tool use, multi-step reasoning,
• and the validation mechanisms that make their output verifiable.

Core Technical Requirements:

• Advanced Python and strong software engineering fundamentals.
• SQL and familiarity with databases (relational or NoSQL).
• Comfort with Linux and the command line, Git, and containers.
• Experience working with APIs and structured/unstructured data.
• Demonstrated experience building non-trivial projects
• Ability to plan development tasks with LLMs, delegate implementation to coding agents, and design robust validation mechanisms.
• Cloud platforms (AWS preferred), workflow orchestration and exposure to time series or financial market data are a plus.

AI & Systems Understanding:

• Hands-on experience using LLMs as part of small systems (e.g., simple retrieval workflows, tool use, or multi-step reasoning setups).
• Basic understanding of how data flows through an AI pipeline (input processing, transformation, validation, output evaluation).
• Interest in structured data modeling and explicit knowledge representation.

Mindset & Operating Style:

• Ownership: this is a production system that real investment decisions depend on.
• Rigor with data: you notice when a number looks wrong, and you go and check.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate autonomously in technically demanding environments.
• Comfort working on complex systems.
