Zurich Insurance Group's Technology Delivery Center in Barcelona delivers cutting-edge AI and software solutions across global units. As an AI Developer Intern in Madrid, you will join a senior-level team delivering end-to-end AI applications for Group Functions.

You will build Python/FastAPI backends, integrate LLMs into workflows, connect data sources via APIs, and help create AI agents for insurance processes while learning from experts in a collaborative, tech-driven environment.

Formación

• Student in computer science, software engineering, data engineering or related field; active student status mandatory.
• Available at least 6 months, up to 30h/week; 12 months preferred.
• Solid Python skills to build a backend service.
• Knows how REST APIs work; comfortable with Git.
• Fluent in English.
• Curious, proactive problem-solver.
• Bonus: React, Docker, SQL, cloud basics, or hands-on AI/LLM experience.

Let me introduce us. You’re reading about Zurich Insurance Group, a global leader in insurance, but this role specifically pertains to our Technology Delivery Center (TDC). Established in Barcelona in 2006, the TDC operates as an integral part of Zurich Insurance Group, providing cutting‑edge technological solutions and support to Zurich's local and global business units.

In essence, Zurich TDC is where technology meets the vast reach of a multinational company. We specialize in areas such as software development, data analytics, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure. Our primary mission is to support Zurich's strategic goals and enhance operational efficiency through innovative technology solutions.

Within the TDC, we are the DDP AI Solutions team within Zurich's TDC Barcelona — senior team delivering end-to-end AI applications for Group Functions. Current live products include an agentic control testing platform, a regulatory monitoring tool across multiple jurisdictions, an AI assistant for multinational insurance data, and financial crime alerting solutions.

What Can You Expect?

As an AI Developer Intern you will have the opportunity to:

• Build and maintain Python/FastAPI backend services and REST APIs
• Integrate LLM capabilities into application workflows
• Create AI Agents and integrate them in key insurance processes.
• Connect internal and external data sources via APIs

What Makes You a great Fit?

While we’re not seeking perfection or expecting you to save the world, we believe that if you meet some of these requirements, you’ll be a fantastic fit for our team. We are waiting for you!

• Computer science, software engineering, data engineering or related degree at a Spanish university — active student status mandatory
• Available at least 6 months, up to 30h/week. Preferred if the candidate can stay 12 months.
• Solid python — you can build a backend service and call an API independently
• Knows how REST APIs work, comfortable with GIT
• Fluent in English
• Curious - you figure things out before asking
• Bonus: React, Docker, SQL, cloud basics, or any hands‑on AI/LLM experience

We are not looking for data scientists or ML engineers. Our AI is assembled from existing models — your job is to build the software around them.
