As an AI Architect, you will lead the strategic design, development, and deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions that drive business value across AI Tech Team. This role plays a critical part in the AI transformation agenda spearheading the application of cutting-edge AI technologies, including Generative AI (GenAI), to enhance client experience, unlock new growth opportunities, and improve operational efficiency.

You will operate, working in close collaboration with business leaders, scientist teams, and technology partners to deliver innovative and responsible AI at scale. This role provides an excellent opportunity to influence and shape the strategic agenda for AI adoption and spearhead the deployment of Santander's AI products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and execute a comprehensive AI strategy aligned with business objectives and Santander’s enterprise AI roadmap
• Identify and prioritize high-impact AI/GenAI use cases across the value chain (e.g., hyper-personalization, intelligent automation, risk management, investment advisory)
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable AI/ML solutions, ensuring business relevance and measurable outcomes
• Guide cross-functional teams through AI project lifecycles—from ideation and experimentation to industrialization and continuous improvement
• Supervise the development and maintenance of predictive models and advanced analytics capabilities
• Oversee AI research, proof-of-concept development, and technology prototyping, with a focus on innovation and rapid iteration
• Ensure all AI solutions comply with ethical, regulatory, and data privacy standards
• Build strategic partnerships with external AI vendors, cloud providers, and academic/research institutions
• Act as an internal thought leader and ambassador for AI adoption across the organization

Required Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in AI/ML roles, with a strong track record of solving real-world problems using advanced analytics and machine learning
• 5+ years of domain-specific experience in financial services
• Demonstrated success leading large-scale AI initiatives and multidisciplinary teams in complex environments
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI technologies and their business applications
• Exposure to end-to-end productization of AI models in enterprise settings

Education:

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
• Relevant certifications in AI/ML and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) are a plus

Skills & Competencies:

• Deep expertise in machine learning algorithms, deep learning architectures, and GenAI techniques (including prompt engineering)
• Strong programming proficiency in Python and AI development libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
• Experience working with cloud-based AI platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Solid understanding of financial services technology and use cases
• Strong foundation in predictive analytics, data science methodologies, and MLOps
• Knowledge of data privacy, model governance, and responsible/ethical AI frameworks
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex AI concepts into actionable business outcomes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, across technical and non-technical audiences
• Change leadership and experience driving organizational transformation through emerging technologies
