Job Description :

A vacancy for a junior Aerodynamics Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Getafe.

The successful applicant will join the team responsible for the aerodynamic development and optimisation of Airbus Defence & Space aircraft, participating in activities such as external shape aerodynamic design, generation of complex aerodynamic models, data analysis on performance, handling qualities, loads in steady and unsteady modes, safe separation analysis, and wind tunnel test campaigns. These activities are carried out in a multidisciplinary environment of Flight Physics, collaborating with international partners.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include :

• Designing aircraft external shapes and providing aerodynamic models and data on performance, handling qualities, and loads in various modes.
• Ensuring delivery of optimized aerodynamic solutions and data to customers within time, cost, and quality constraints.
• Developing and maintaining technologies, methods, tools, and skills related to Aerodynamics to meet project requirements throughout their lifecycle.
• Contributing to the achievement of vehicle project aerodynamic and flight performance goals within prescribed timelines and budgets.
• Gaining expertise in numerical and experimental aerodynamic prediction tools.
• Linking with external research in Aerodynamics and multidisciplinary aircraft design.
• Collaborating with disciplines such as structures, loads, stability & control, and mass properties.

Required Skills

We are looking for candidates with :

• Experience with meshing and numerical aerodynamic prediction tools.
• Experience generating aerodynamic databases from experimental and CFD data.
• Experience with CAD tools.
• Knowledge of wind tunnel testing and safe separation analysis.
• Proficiency in Python and Matlab.
• Advanced level of English; German and / or French are valuable.
