Babel Profiles in Barcelona is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join an international finance environment. You will own complex AP cases, act as the technical reference for the team, and drive improvements to ensure reliable financial operations.

Responsibilities include day-to-day AP processing, collaborating with suppliers and global stakeholders, coaching peers, and supporting month-end closings. The role is permanent with a hybrid model and a salary of €27,000–€30,000 gross per year.

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join an international finance environment in Barcelona. This role is ideal for someone with strong AP expertise who can take ownership of complex cases , act as a technical reference for the team and contribute to more efficient, consistent and reliable financial operations

Beyond day-to-day activities, you will help identify the root causes of discrepancies, support knowledge sharing and collaborate with different stakeholders to improve processes and maintain high operational standards

Main responsibilities

• Operational Excellence:Process and validate supplier invoices, taking ownership of the most complex cases, discrepancies, and escalations
• Technical Leadership:Act as the subject matter expert and technical reference for the AP team, providing daily support and guidance to resolve complex operational and accounting issues
• Coordination & Prioritization: Help organize daily workflows, prioritize tasks based on urgency, and ensure all necessary activities for month-end and year-end closings are completed on time
• Root Cause Analysis:Investigate recurring incidents, identify their root causes, and propose effective solutions.
• Training & Mentoring:Support the onboarding and training of new team members, ensuring smooth knowledge transfer and high-quality standards
• Stakeholder Collaboration:Work closely with suppliers, internal finance teams, and international stakeholders to resolve operational issues
• Continuous Improvement:Participate actively in process standardization, automation initiatives, and the updating of operational manuals to ensure compliance with internal controls

Core skills/experience

• Approximately 3 years of professional experience, with a solid background in Accounts Payable (AP) or Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, supplier accounting, and closing processes.
• An advanced level of English is required for daily international communication and email correspondence
• High autonomy, initiative, and analytical skills; You know how to prioritize tasks and solve problems without needing constant supervision
• Expertise in Excel and any ERP (ideally SAP)
