Accountant - UK & Ireland (based in Barcelona)

At the European Shared Services Center in Cornellà de Llobregat, with over 300 employees, we support the group's subsidiaries across Europe and other regions. Our multicultural environment comprises employees from around 30 different nationalities.

We are seeking an Accountant based in Barcelona.

The successful candidate will be a member of the UK / IE European Financial Accounting team at the Air Products Shared Service Center in Cornella, working in cooperation with the Team Leader. The role involves managing key compliance deadlines for all Air Products legal entities in the UK and Ireland.

Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare timely and accurate data on a local GAAP basis for external reporting to Tax Authorities, Auditors, and the Statistical Office. Collaborate with the Team Leader on monthly US GAAP reporting in line with the company's Month-end Closing schedule.
  2. Prepare local GAAP Statutory Accounts for Air Products legal entities in the UK and Ireland, including working papers and schedules for the statutory year-end audit, aiming for a clean audit opinion.
  3. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations monthly or quarterly, ensuring all reconciliations are completed and correctly filed, collaborating with relevant teams as necessary.
  4. Set priorities and work plans within the overall framework and deadlines under supervision of the Team Leader.
Qualifications:
  • University degree in Financial Accounting or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in preparing annual accounts, preferably under FRS102 / IFRS.
  • Experience working in an international team of accountants.
  • Effective communication skills in a diverse environment.
Desirable Skills:
  • Knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA, ACA, or CIMA.
