About the role

Smart Mobile Labs (SML), Germany’s market leader in bespoke private 5G networks, has recently joined forces with Boldyn Networks to become one team. We’re now looking for an Accountant to join our growing finance function. This is a pivotal role supporting our operations across Germany and wider Europe, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and process excellence.

You’ll be responsible for overseeing the monthly financial close process for multiple European entities, including our newly acquired German business, while also driving improvements in financial operations and reporting. This role can be based in Barcelona, Spain, or Munich, Germany, with occasional travel required.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll play a key role in both hands-on accounting and strategic financial oversight, including:

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB), IFRS, and other local standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax and regulatory requirements across European jurisdictions.
  • Lead quality assurance of financial statements and deliver insightful reports to management.
  • Support statutory audits and liaise with auditors and tax advisers.
Accounts Payable & Purchase-to-Pay
  • Oversee supplier invoice processing and payment using systems such as DATEV or Workday.
  • Ensure proper cost allocation and adherence to procurement policies.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and manage payment runs.
Accounts Receivable & Order-to-Cash
  • Support customer invoicing and monitor billable services across European markets.
  • Track incoming payments, manage outstanding balances, and support credit control and cash flow.
Travel & Expense Management
  • Review and process travel expenses in line with internal policies and local tax rules.
  • Manage reimbursements through HR Works or similar systems.
Financial Controls & Process Improvement
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process efficiency.
  • Support implementation of financial systems and reporting enhancements.
What you’ll bring

Think you could make a difference here? We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares and wants to grow our business. You’ll want to make an impact from day one. You might also need some of the following:

  • A university degree (or equivalent) in finance, accounting, or a related field, or a qualification as a certified public accountant.
  • Demonstrable professional experience in financial accounting and reporting, preferably within Germany.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including experience with German GAAP (HGB) and tax compliance.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and financial analysis tools.
  • Hands-on mentality, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Very good German and English language skills are required.
