Descripción del empleo

What's Barkibu?

Hey there!

Barkibu is a tech company dedicated to ensuring dogs and cats receive the medical care they need without the worry of high expenses.

At Barkibu, we dream of a world where every pet can access top-tier healthcare without financial barriers. We're committed to supporting pets and their owners for a joyful, thriving life together.

We're a team of pet lovers from Spain, Germany, France, Belgium, Croatia, Russia, Morocco, Argentina, Brazil, Romania, Italy, Poland, and Portugal. Now, we're looking for a Software Engineer with an analytical mindset to help scale our engineering systems and infrastructure as we grow internationally.

Our presence spans 7 countries: Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Greece, and Finland. Join us and be part of this exciting journey!

As a Software Engineer...

You'll be part of our Claims team, responsible for the full development lifecycle of the reimbursement claims decision-making process for our clients. This involves analyzing veterinary documents and invoices, and implementing automated validation systems to determine coverage eligibility. This is a high-impact role, handling over €50 million annually in reimbursements, with an opportunity to save €2 million for the company.

The Claims team automates pet health insurance claims processing, a critical challenge. Pet parents upload documents via our app for reimbursement, and our system analyzes these to make coverage decisions, handling complex scenarios like pre-existing conditions, waiting periods, and invoice evaluation according to policy terms.

You will work on cutting-edge solutions using OCR, LLMs, and business rules to improve claim resolution times, automate validation, enhance user experience, detect fraud, and support veterinary decision-making. Additionally, you'll contribute to building a large database of structured clinical data for future innovations.

Who are we looking for?

Someone curious, interested in frameworks & languages, and eager to help build the future of pet insurance with data, intelligence, and empathy. You will take ownership of features from ideation to deployment, wearing many hats, including:

  • Business Analyst
  • Project Manager
  • QA Specialist
  • DevOps Engineer

You are a good fit if you have:

  • Experience with complex challenges like this role
  • Fluency in English
  • Spanish is a plus
  • A product mindset and experience with consumer products focused on growth
  • Comfort with full ownership and iterative development
  • The ability to work closely with engineers, veterinarians, and business teams
What do we offer?
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Permanent contract (40h/week)
  • Remote work from anywhere in Spain
