Context And Mission
At the Visualization Group of the BSC, we are looking for a technical artist to work with us in the creation of data-driven visualizations.
The position involves producing accurate 3D models, appealing technical animations, and high-end renderings for scientific documentaries . The candidate will work in two main areas:
Key Duties
Create a detailed, usable, and realistic model of one of the BSC's supercomputers
Development of a stunning visual style for the project, managing the complete process: from shading and lighting to rendering and compositing.
Creation of FX animations driven by external data sources
Develop and implement scripts to automate processes inside SideFX Houdini
Attend coordination meetings and collaborate in the general planning and pre-production of the project
Requirements
Education
Masters in Computer Science, Computer Animation, or similar
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Full proficiency in SideFX Houdini, with a focus in Karma, Solaris and Copernicus
Advanced 3D modelling skills (hard surfaces)
Proven experience with photo-realistic image generation: photogrammetry, texture acquisition, HDRi lighting, etc.
Minimum 3+ years of experience in the animation/VFX industry (technical department)
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Programming skills will be valued (Python, C++, etc)
Experience with render farm systems
Competences
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
English (C1 min.)
Ability to take initiative, prioritize, and work under set deadlines.
Self-planning and organization
Ability to work within a team
Conditions
The position will be located at BSC within the CASE Department
We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
