JOB DESCRIPTION

The Genomics and Transcriptomics of Synucleinopathies (GTS) group focuses on the molecular characterization of Lewy body diseases. Over the past 10 years, we have specialized in dementia with Lewy bodies with the goal of providing peripheral diagnostic markers.

We are currently seeking a Research Technician for an ambitious project with significant social impact, especially for patients and their families. The successful candidate will participate in a project within Personalized and Precision Medicine, funded to develop diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for Lewy body disorders in early stages. Responsibilities include developing and validating miRNA-based signatures and RNA transcript markers for dementia with Lewy bodies, aiming to offer solutions for patients, clinicians, and therapeutic development. Successful validation could lead to the creation of a spin-off company.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in sample obtaining and processing.
  • Conduct RNA expression studies, including data analysis.
  • Perform genotyping using RFLP and Sanger sequencing.
  • Interpret results, present findings, and participate in discussions.
  • Draft manuscripts and manuscript sections.
  • Maintain and update laboratory databases.
  • Manage laboratory resources, ensuring availability and readiness of materials and reagents.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The applicant must have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, with focus on molecular and cellular biology and/or neuroscience.
  • Strong experience in molecular biology techniques (DNA and RNA isolation, RNA quantification, PCR, genotyping).
  • Experience in cell culture.
  • Minimum of 800 practical hours in relevant laboratory work.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of databases, especially Excel.
  • Experience with RStudio and data analysis.
