A pre-doctoral contract in programming languages and IT systems

A Degree in Informatics Engineering.
A Master’s Degree in Intelligent Systems by the contract start date.
Candidates must be pre-admitted or admitted to the PhD programme in Information and Communication Technology at the UIB.
Specific Requirements
A copy of candidates’ enrolment or admission document to the PhD programme in Information and Communication Technology for the 2025-2026 academic year; otherwise, supporting documentation stating they will be admitted by the contract start date
Language requeriments
An ability to collaborate in teaching duties in Catalan and/or Spanish

Eligibility criteria
Block A. Academic and/or scientific and technical training (max. 50 points). Scientific and technical achievements. Particular consideration will be given to candidates’ academic records and other curricular merits, as well as their relevance for the specific duties based on training and professional experience. Consideration will be given to participation in university lecturing, as well as the relevance and impact of research stays at national and international centres. A correction factor may be applied to scores for each indicator or merit, in accordance with the relevance to the purpose of the pre-doctoral contract. In order to apply these correction factors, the criteria set by the department
for teaching and research staff shall be used as a benchmark.
• Academic record (max. 35 points)
o Weighted average mark for undergraduate degree programmes to two decimal places (max. 20 points)
o Weighted average mark for the master’s programme to two decimal places required in the call (max. 15 points)
• Teaching activity (max. 6 points)
o University lecturing
2 points for every 60 hours of teaching on undergraduate programmes per academic year
o Teaching quality
1 point for every positive or favourable teaching assessment per subject and academic year
1 point per published article on teaching quality innovation and improvement
• Research activity (max. 6 points)
o Publications in accordance with quality and relevance criteria
3 points per publication in JCR-indexed international journals
2 points per paper at international conferences or book chapters or publications in non-indexed journals
1 point per national publication
o Participation at conferences
1 point per paper
0.5 points per poster
o Participation in research projects based on the contribution made
1 point per participation in competitive projects as a researcher or work team member.
0.2 points per month of stay at other research centres (Spanish or overseas) either as an FPI or FPU grantholder, or similar
0.1 points per month for other research grants.
• Other merits (max. 3 points)
o Specialised training courses linked to the position profile (max. 1 point)
0.2 points per 20-hour course or above
o Languages (max. 1 point)
0.5 points per certificate equivalent to C1 level or higher for Catalan and Spanish; B2 level or higher for English
o Professional experience linked to the relevant programme, including non-university teaching (max. 1 point)
0.6 points per year (or pro-rata where the number of months worked is lower)
o Participation in scientific outreach activities organised by universities, scientific associations, etc. (max. 1 point)

Block B. Candidates’ suitability for the research activities (max. 50 points)
Candidates will be assessed on their suitability for the research programme, project or activities, based on their training and previous experience. In this sense, consideration will be given to what the work will contribute to their research career with regard to value added, as well as how the host centre or team will benefit. The following scoring scale provides an outline for assessment:
• Outstanding: 50 points
• Very good: 45 points
• Good: 35 points
• Average: 25 points
• Poor: 15 points
• Very poor: 0 points
Candidates who hold the qualification corresponding to the required category in the job offer with a non-EU degree, if selected, must present a certificate of equivalence of their non-EU qualification to a European qualification, or proof of having applied for this equivalence, in order to proceed with their hiring. Selection comitee
i. The relevant Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research (or person s/he delegates), as chair. ii. The management team for the relevant department. iii. The members of the Research Area Assessment Committee (CARAI). iv. Three experts in the field pertaining to recruitment, where appropriate, appointed by the chair of the committee, having heard from the management team of the department. v. The head of the Management Office for the Research Promotion and Human Resources Programme (or person s/he delegates), acting as secretary, who may speak but not vote.
Additional comments
In accordance with Article 19. c) of Act 17/2022 of 5th September that amends Act 14/2011 of 1st June on Science, Technology and Innovation, the work of pre-doctoral research staff in training shall be assessed by the Academic Committee for the PhD Programme on an annual basis or, where applicable, the Doctoral School, for the duration they are enrolled on the programme. The contract may be terminated where they fail this assessment
