Universidade de Vigo in Vigo, Spain seeks a First Stage Researcher (R1) to design complete electronic systems and hardware architectures, select components, and draft schematics in line with project requirements.

The role involves multilayer PCB design, simulations, bring-up, validation, and coordination with firmware, software and mechanical teams to ensure integrated system success.

The appointment is full‑time, temporary, 37.5 hours per week, with a stated salary of 3,500 € including extras.

Formación

• Academic background and other courses with verifiable experience.
• Proven experience leading or independently developing electronic hardware designs.
• Experience with professional EDA tools, preferably Altium Designer.
• End-to-end electronic development with manufacturing liaison.

Offer Description

Design complete electronic systems, defining the hardware architecture, selecting components, and drawing up electronic schematics in accordance with project requirements.

Design multilayer PCBs, performing simulations, reviews, and optimizations focused on signal integrity, power supply, EMC, and manufacturability.

Perform bring-up, debugging, and functional validation of prototypes using laboratory electronic instrumentation.

Define and execute validation plans, as well as functional and reliability tests, analyzing and resolving hardware issues.

Collaborate with the firmware, software, and mechanical teams during product integration and development, facilitating joint system validation.

Prepare technical design documentation, participate in interactions with manufacturers and suppliers, and contribute to the incorporation of new technologies and product improvements.

**If necessary, candidates must meet the requirements to apply for their HPS.

Item 01: Academic background and other courses. Verifiable professional experience. Knowledge of languages (Spanish, English, Galician) with practical application in a professional setting (punctuation: 30)

Item 02: Proven experience leading or independently developing electronic hardware designs, including architecture definition, component selection, schematic creation, and multilayer PCB design. Experience in the bring-up, debugging, and functional validation of electronic prototypes, as well as in liaising with manufacturers during the manufacturing and industrialization processes (punctuation: 25)

Item 03: Experience using professional electronic design tools (preferably Altium Designer), PCB simulation and review, FMEA/RCA analysis, debugging with electronic instrumentation, and knowledge of embedded systems or basic MCU programming to support hardware validation (punctuation: 20)

Item 04: Other qualifications relevant to the position, particularly experience in end-to-end electronic development, technical certifications, continuing education, technical contributions, or demonstrable experience in incorporating new technologies into product development (punctuation: 10)

Item 05: Personal interview. The interview will be conducted only with those candidates whose total merit score reaches a minimum of 50 points (punctuation: 15)
