Job summary

Temp-Team Denmark is seeking an Ultra-High Vacuum Engineer to support a world‑class physics and semiconductor lab in Kongens Lyngby, just north of Copenhagen. You will maintain UHV, MBE and related equipment in a cleanroom environment.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot vacuum, mechanical, electrical and process-control systems, and assist with installation, commissioning and upgrades while coordinating with vendors.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, servicing, and supporting UHV, MBE, semiconductor process, cryogenic, or scientific research equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on UHV, MBE, nanofabrication, and semiconductor process equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, vacuum, and process-control-related equipment issues.
• Support installation, commissioning, qualification, and upgrades of new laboratory and process equipment.
• Perform vacuum system diagnostics, leak detection, vacuum recovery, and performance optimization.
• Maintain and support vacuum pumps, gas delivery systems, pressure-control systems, gas panels, and Mass Flow Controllers (MFCs).
• Provide technical support for MBE systems, thin-film deposition equipment, and micro-/nanofabrication tools.
• Coordinate service activities with equipment manufacturers, vendors, and external service providers.
• Contribute to equipment reliability improvements, uptime optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

About the job

We are looking for a Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) Engineerto support our client's advanced physics and semiconductor laboratory and cleanroom in Kongens Lyngby, just north of Copenhagen.

As a Ultra High Vacuum Engineer, you will play an important role in ensuring reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of laboratory and cleanroom equipment.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, servicing, and supporting advanced Ultra High Vacuum (UHV), Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE), semiconductor process, cryogenic, or scientific research equipment.

Ideal candidates will have experience from nanofabrication facilities, semiconductor wafer fabrication environments, quantum research laboratories, advanced physics laboratories, or similar research and development environments, where they have been responsible for maintaining complex vacuum-based systems and supporting critical research infrastructure.

Required Experience

• Hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, commissioning, qualifying, or upgrading UHV, semiconductor process, or scientific research equipment.
• Experience with vacuum systems, vacuum chambers, turbopumps, cryopumps, roughing pumps, vacuum gauges, leak detection, and vacuum system recovery.
• Experience with gas delivery systems, process gases, gas cabinets, gas panels, pressure-control systems, and Mass Flow Controllers (MFCs).
• Experience working in cleanroom, nanofabrication, wafer fabrication, research laboratory, or other highly controlled technical environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills involving electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, process-control, and vacuum-related systems.
• Experience supporting equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, equipment recovery, qualification, and continuous improvement activities.

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting or maintaining Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) systems.
• Experience with III-V semiconductor growth, epitaxy, thin-film deposition, PVD, CVD, ALD, RIE, ion beam systems, lithography, or related nanofabrication technologies.
• Experience supporting cryogenic systems and low-temperature research infrastructure.
