Technology Specialist – Carbon Capture Technology
An innovative engineering and technology organisation at the forefront of industrial decarbonisation is seeking a Technology Specialist – Carbon Capture Technology to support the development and deployment of next-generation carbon capture solutions.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced process engineer or technology specialist to work across technology development, engineering studies and project execution, helping to bring carbon capture technologies from concept through to commercial implementation.
The Role
As a Technology Specialist, you will be part of a multidisciplinary technology team responsible for the successful implementation of carbon capture processes, heat integration systems and CO₂ handling technologies. You will play a key role in supporting studies, projects, pilot plant activities and product development, ensuring technical excellence across all stages of deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform conceptual evaluations and technical assessments related to carbon capture, heat integration and CO₂ handling systems.
- Develop and maintain process engineering deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), heat and mass balances, datasheets and technical documentation.
- Ensure the quality and consistency of technical specifications, methodologies and procedures across studies, projects and product development activities.
- Support pilot plant operations, commissioning and plant start-up activities from a process technology perspective.
- Collaborate with project teams, technology partners, suppliers and customers throughout project execution.
- Contribute to research, development and innovation programmes focused on carbon capture and CO₂ conditioning technologies.
- Identify opportunities for technology improvements, innovation and potential intellectual property development.
Requirements
- MSc, PhD or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' industry experience, or a PhD with relevant research and industrial exposure.
- Experience in process engineering, process technology development or process design within the energy, chemicals, power generation, environmental or related sectors.
- Knowledge of process simulation tools such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of thermal energy systems, heat integration and process optimisation principles.
- Experience supporting research and development activities and translating innovation into industrial applications.
- Knowledge of carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), CO₂ compression, liquefaction, flue gas treatment or emissions control technologies would be advantageous.
- Operational experience within pilot plants, process plants or commissioning environments would be beneficial.
- Fluent English communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
