Job summary

Phanofi is a DTU spin-out building advanced optical interconnect chips. We seek a Student Assistant in Embedded Systems to develop firmware for STM32-based lab systems and to turn hardware into measurable, working software from day one.

You will work closely with a small, fast‑paced team on signal generation, acquisition, processing, and lab documentation, with flexible hours around lectures, and opportunities to contribute to a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of C and microcontroller fundamentals with practical STM32 experience.
• Hands‑on experience with SPI, I2C, DMA, timers, ADC and DAC, from config to bench debugging.
• Ability to read schematics/datasheets and work with lab equipment; PCB design exposure a plus.
• Fluent English and structured, independent problem‑solver mindset; able to bridge hardware and software.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware for STM32 microcontrollers to enable lab setups and experiments.
• Interface peripherals and control devices over SPI and I2C; ensure reliable MCU‑hardware communication.
• Generate, acquire, and process signals on the MCU with filtering, averaging, and feature extraction.
• Bring up hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers and document results with version control.
