Job summary

Pleo is hiring a Staff Engineer to lead the Business Spend architecture and data migrations. You’ll own critical parts of supplier data, invoices, and vendor modeling across systems, working across teams in product, design and compliance.

You’ll report to the Engineering Manager in Business Spend and collaborate with a small, global team to scale services that run at real customer scale, with emphasis on reliability, observability, and long-term architecture decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience leading cross-country/remote engineering teams.
• Proven backend engineering with modern statically typed languages.
• Experience shipping in legacy systems and migrations.
• Ability to write design docs and migration plans that others can act on.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of major workstreams in supplier migration and production readiness.
• Improve payment reliability and observability across the spend stack.
• Architect services that model suppliers, cards, invoices, and accounting consistently.
• Drive cross-team technical decisions via design docs and review forums.
• Mentor peers through pairing, reviews, and clear documentation.
