Job summary

Sophion Bioscience in the Copenhagen area seeks a Software Manager to lead eight software engineers building software for automated life science instruments. You will report to the VP of R&D and own the software roadmap with product management, including budget responsibility for the function.

Day-to-day you will collaborate with Product Management, System Engineering, Hardware, Bioscience, Quality and Technical Support to keep the pace, build trust, and shape how AI is used in development.

Qualifications

• Software background in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
• Solid software development experience—preferably with instruments or hardware-related product software.
• Experience mentoring engineers and a strong ambition to grow into broader leadership.
• Curiosity about AI and modern ways of working to improve how software is built and deployed.

Responsibilities

• Lead software work from roadmap to release and set the tone for collaboration.
• Own the software roadmap and release planning with Product Management.
• Set technical direction and maintain quality standards.
• Keep delivery predictable with clear scope and timelines.
• Lead day-to-day: hiring, onboarding, mentoring, feedback and career development.
• Shape how we use AI in software development and share results across the company.
• Manage the software budget and resources.
