Job summary

Mastercard Payment Services Denmark A/S in Ballerup is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Java backend team. You will build scalable microservices and contribute across the full stack as needed.

You’ll work with stakeholders, emphasize security and reliability, and share knowledge to help the team grow in a diverse, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering.
• Strong experience with Java backend development and microservices architectures.
• Experience with frontend web development is a plus.
• Some experience (2 to 4 years) in delivering secure solutions in a heavily regulated sector.
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of Software Engineering Concepts and Methodologies.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively in a diverse setting.
• Ability to understand complex systems and their interactions with external partners and dependencies.
• Able to work both very independently and in a team setting.
• Curious and eager to learn and implement new technologies, frameworks, and tools. A willingness to learn, experiment and share knowledge with others.
• Experience with Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes.
• Familiarity with compliance requirements and audit processes.

We build and operate payment services that are used by more than 90% of Danish households and support everyone from individual consumers to major corporations and public institutions. Overview
We primarily develop Java-based backend services built around modern microservices architectures. While the role is focused on backend engineering, we also value experience with frontend web development and an interest in contributing across the full stack. We expect you to enhance and develop not only our code and solutions but also to help us identify and chose how we solve our challenges.
