Job description

At MFT Energy, we innovate energy trading through our people and technology.

Join a world of energy as MFT Energy's new Software Developer

Do you want to build tools that make a real difference in live energy markets, in a development environment built on pace, ownership, and real impact? Then you might be our new Software Developer in Aarhus!

The job as a Software Developer

As our new Software Developer, you will join an experienced, highly skilled Technology team working at the intersection of software development and energy trading. You will help deliver the technological foundation for our trading teams, developing trading systems, internal tooling, and full-stack applications that power how we operate and trade across multiple countries every day. You will sit right in the middle of the trading floor, working alongside fellow developers, analysts, and traders, giving you direct access to trading, the challenges they face, and the real impact of the code you ship to production.

In this role you will
  • Develop and maintain trading systems and tools in close collaboration with traders and business stakeholders
  • Build and improve full-stack internal applications used across the organisation
  • Translate business requirements into reliable, scalable technical solutions
  • Contribute to architecture and technology decisions as the team evolves
  • Write clean, well-tested code and participate actively in code reviews
  • Identify opportunities to automate, optimize, and simplify existing workflows
  • Work across the stack from backend logic to front-end interfaces, depending on where the need is greatest
  • Take pride in understanding the complexity of the domain you operate within
About you

You are genuinely curious about how energy markets work, and motivated by building software that traders rely on every single day. You thrive when given ownership over your own work, comfortable pushing back when a requirement doesn't hold up, and just as comfortable having your own code challenged in review. What matters most is not a background in trading or energy - it's the strength of your technical skills and your drive to understand the domain you're building for.

What you need to succeed
  • A background in software development - a few years of experience, or a strong foundation from your degree
  • Hands-on experience with Python, C#/.NET, or similar, and a willingness to work across the stack
  • Fluent English, spoken and written - our company language is English
  • Strong communication skills - comfortable engaging directly with traders and stakeholders, not just working from a ticket queue
  • Strong analytical skills, with the independence to structure your own workload and figure out what needs solving, not just how
Bonus points if you bring
  • Experience within trading, finance, or an energy environment
  • Exposure to data pipelines, APIs, or real-time systems in a business-critical context
Working in MFT Energy

At MFT Energy, we combine a startup mindset with the strength of a global organization. We believe in empowering individuals to make data-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment. We are around 200 employees working out of our headquarters in Aarhus C, and from our international offices in Türkiye, Australia, New York, Singapore, Japan, and several remote colleagues working from all over the world.

You can look forward to
  • An international and dynamic environment where priorities evolve with the business
  • Close collaboration with skilled and ambitious colleagues across functions
  • The opportunity to have a real impact on a growing quantitative and trading setup
  • Competitive benefits and the opportunity to grow with the company
  • The chance to one day become partner
  • A flat organization where responsibility and initiative are valued
  • A culture where we enjoy celebrating both big and small successes - and luckily, we have many reasons to do so
