VerdeX Energy, a start-up in Aarhus, Denmark, is seeking a skilled Software Developer to shape our trading platform from day one.

You will design, build and continuously improve core systems with traders and quantitative profiles, translating market data into robust software solutions across the full development lifecycle. Join early and influence technology decisions as the business scales.

Qualifications

• A master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

VerdeX Energy is a start-up located in the heart of Aarhus, specializing in short-term energy trading. We combine data-driven strategies with deep market insights to identify and capture opportunities across the European power markets.

As we build our trading platform and scale our operations, we are looking for a skilled and ambitiousSoftware Developerto join our core team. You will become part of VerdeX Energy at an early stage and have a unique opportunity to shape the technology, architecture and systems that will form the foundation of our trading business.

The Role

As a Software Developer at VerdeX Energy, you will play a central role in designing, building and continuously improving the technology platform supporting our trading activities.

You will work closely with traders and quantitative profiles to translate trading ideas, market data and analytical models into robust and scalable software solutions. The role spans the full development lifecycle – from architecture and data infrastructure to execution systems, monitoring and optimization.

As an early member of the team, you will have significant influence on how our technology platform is built and developed as the business scales.

Key ResponsibilitiesTrading Platform Development

• Design, develop and maintain the core systems supporting our trading activities.
• Build reliable and scalable pipelines for collecting, processing and storing large volumes of market, weather, fundamental and trading data.
• Develop tools that enable traders to analyse markets, identify opportunities and execute strategies efficiently across intraday and day-ahead power markets.
• Automate trading workflows and operational processes to improve execution speed, scalability and reliability.
• Ensure that our trading infrastructure is robust, scalable and capable of operating reliably in fast- moving energy markets.
• Take an active role in defining the technology stack and architecture as the company expands into new strategies and markets.

We Expect You to Have

• Amaster’sdegree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering or another relevant technical field.
• Strong programming skills and a solid understanding of software architecture and development principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience working with APIs, databases and data-intensive applications.
• An interest in data, financial markets and/or energy markets.
• The ability to take ownership of projects from idea to production.
• A pragmaticand proactivemindset and the ability to balance development speed with quality and reliability.

Experience withPython, Java, C#, C++, TypeScript, SQL or similar technologiesis relevant, although we value strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn new technologies above experience with a specific technology stack.

Industry experience is an advantage – but not a requirement. If you are technically strong and curious about how technology, data and markets interact, we would still like to hear from you.
