Job summary

University of Copenhagen, Section of Microbiology in the Department of Biology, seeks a Sequencing platform and service manager to coordinate sequencing operations, service contracts, and method development. The role involves data management, technical advisory duties, and platform administration within an internationally oriented research setting.

You will work with researchers, staff, and external collaborators, developing workflows, ensuring quality, and providing guidance on sequencing

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in microbiology, molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, bioinformatics or related field.
• Practical experience with molecular biology and DNA-based methods including DNA extraction, sample prep, PCR, sequencing workflows.
• Experience with next-generation sequencing technologies and both short- and long-read approaches preferred.
• Experience with amplicon sequencing, especially 16S rRNA gene sequencing; PacBio sequencing is an advantage.
• Experience handling sequencing data, quality control, organization and management.
• Experience coordinating technical services, lab workflows, research infrastructure, platforms or projects.
• Ability to advise researchers on technical questions and translate requirements into workflows.
• Good IT and data-management skills; bioinformatic workflows or sequencing-data analysis is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate sequencing operations and laboratory workflows as part of service management and platform administration.
• Serve as main contact for sequencing platform providers and coordinate technical and operational matters.
• Develop and implement analytical protocols, including 16S workflows and PacBio analyses.
• Oversee sequencing data storage, organization, and accessibility; perform/data cleaning and preparation.
• Act as direct contact for external customers and collaborators, coordinating sequencing requests and timelines.
