Job summary

Chainalysis is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Investigations to drive technical direction for cloud-native data ingestion and domain services. You will lead architecture, build and maintain customer-facing features and the supporting APIs, working closely with product managers and designers.

You will mentor engineers, advocate streaming architectures, and own scaling of high-performance services on AWS.

Qualifications

• Deep experience with backend and/or frontend systems, including leadership roles.

As a Senior Software Engineer within Investigations, you'll be a driving force in a team of engineers, taking ownership of technical direction and sharing responsibility for providing the right tools and the right data to build best in class customer experiences. You'll lead the design, build and maintenance of new customer facing web-features as well as the APIs and services backing them. A key part of this role is partnering closely with product managers and designers, leveraging your deep understanding of the underlying data platform to deliver impactful, scalable solutions to our customers.

In this role, you'll:

• Lead the architecture, maintenance and development of serving cloud-native data ingest and aggregation processes that intake gigabytes of data per day

• Drive the delivery of features across our product suite that detect activities for market manipulation, fraud, behavioural patterning, and more

• Own and scale a high-performance services on AWS that handle thousands of requests per second

• Lead the team's modernisation efforts towards a streaming architecture, setting technical direction and best practices

• Own and drive the direction and enablement of our graphing platform, which is used across multiple products to drive and visualise understanding of our insights and data, both on and off the blockchains

• Debug and resolve production issues across multiple systems and services, guiding the team through complex technical challenges

• Mentor and grow engineers across the team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration

We're looking for candidates who have:

• Proven experience leading the design and implementation of cloud-native services-based systems in a major cloud provider like AWS or GCP

• A strong track record of mentoring engineers, leading cross-team projects, and driving design and technology decisions at a senior or lead level

• The ability to align technical execution with product and design partners, with a strong bias to ship and iterate

• Deep experience with object-oriented programming languages; we mostly use Java and typescript but appreciate a variety of languages!

• A strong technical background with extensive experience working directly on complex backend and/or frontend systems and projects, including in leadership or lead engineer roles

• Great pride from taking ownership of product ideas from inception through to production

• Good understanding of both frontend and backend best practices and paradigms.

• Integrated AI impactfully in customer-facing products or engineering infrastructure
