Job summary

Plecto in Aarhus is seeking a Senior Python/Django Engineer to design, build, and optimize the backend of our real-time performance platform. You will leverage AI tooling to speed development, improve code quality, and drive architectural decisions.

Collaborate with product and data teams across the globe, own end-to-end backend delivery, and mentor peers while shipping scalable services using PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience with Python and Django building production-grade systems.
• Proven track record of using AI code assistants to boost development velocity, improve code quality, and automate workflows.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and deploying applications in cloud environments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and monitoring/observability tooling.

What you will do:

As a Senior Python Developer at Plecto, you'll play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing the backend of our real-time performance platform.

Key Responsibilities

• We encourage and support using AI assistants (we currently generally prefer Conductor with Claude) across the entire software development lifecycle.
• AI handles routine boilerplate, code generation, initial test writing, and refactoring so you can focus on architecture, complex domain logic, and high-impact problems.
• We treat AI literacy and prompt engineering as essential engineering skills alongside clean code and architectural design.
• Designing and developing scalable, high-throughput backend services and APIs using Python and Django.
• Working with modern data systems including PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka, and message queues/streaming setups.
• Building and helping to improve our infrastructure to support reliability, scalability, and performance as we grow.
• Leveraging AI tools to accelerate feature iteration, automated test generation, and system optimization while maintaining high engineering quality.
• Taking end-to-end ownership of backend architecture, from design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and performance tuning in production.
• Collaborating with product managers and engineers to deliver features that scale to thousands of active global users.
• Mentoring teammates and sharing best practices on both traditional Python development and AI-assisted engineering workflows.

Who You Are:

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience with Python and Django building production-grade systems.
• Proven track record of using AI code assistants to boost development velocity, improve code quality, and automate workflows.

Required Technical Expertise

• Experience with building and maintaining production systems.
• Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Docker and deploying applications in cloud environments.
• DevOps: Some experience with DevOps practices, such as CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and monitoring/observability tooling.
• Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL), query optimization, caching (Redis), and search/indexing (Elasticsearch).
• Solid background in containerization (Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments.
• Pragmatic engineering mindset, focused on shipping high-quality code, technical clarity, and measurable impact.
• AI-Assisted Development: Hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code to boost productivity and code quality, and comfortable working with Conductor as our coding editor.
