Offer description

We are looking for a motivated Data Engineer with a developing T‑shaped profile. This is a role for someone with a solid foundation in data engineering who is eager to apply their skills to solve tangible business challenges, deliver data‑driven insights, and contribute to innovative AI applications.

You will join our growing community of 60+ data and AI professionals across Copenhagen and Warsaw. While based in our Copenhagen hub, your role will focus on building and delivering critical data solutions for our ambulance operations in Europe and the United States. You will work with stakeholders across our operating countries – from operations and fleet management to contract and performance teams – and be responsible for translating their goals into tangible data solutions, from engineering high‑performance pipelines to contributing to the implementation of AI and the creation of new applications for its use cases.

As a Data Engineer supporting ambulance operations, your focus will be on designing, building, and maintaining the end‑to‑end data pipelines and data models that answer critical business questions: how our fleet and crews are deployed, how we perform against contract targets, and where we can operate more efficiently and safely. Through expert data modeling and robust pipeline development, you will unlock the potential for advanced analytics and fuel the creation of next‑generation AI applications.

A particular challenge – and opportunity – in this role is bringing together data from different ambulance markets and turning it into models that consolidate the information and make it available to drive performance improvement.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to deepen your technical expertise by applying your engineering skills to complex challenges in a live, 24/7 operational environment, including hands‑on involvement in our strategic AI projects. You will see the direct impact of your data pipelines on how we deliver emergency and patient transport services, and grow your skills in a collaborative environment – learning from senior engineers and becoming a well‑rounded expert who bridges the gap between raw data and business value. Building on your engineering foundation, you leverage modern tools like AI to champion continuous improvement while developing your skills by learning more about the business context, analytics, and AI.

About Us

Falck's Data, Insights & AI department brings together experts in data engineering, analytics, AI, automation, and business partnering to support a global healthcare and emergency services organisation. With 60+ professionals in our Copenhagen and Warsaw hubs, we combine deep technical expertise with strong business understanding to build data and AI solutions that are reliable, scalable, and actually used.

We work closely across the business and with central technology teams. This role sits close to our ambulance operations in Europe and the US and works with the shared standards and frameworks that accelerate delivery for the entire organization. We invest in our people, encourage T‑shaped development, and foster a culture of care, trust, and collaboration – turning care into action through data and AI.

Your Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain core data pipelines and reusable frameworks using PySpark, Python, and SQL on our Databricks platform.
  • Work closely with Business Analysts and operational stakeholders in Europe and the US to transform defined business requirements into robust, scalable, and high-quality data solutions.
  • Help integrate a wide variety of operational data sources — across countries, contracts, and systems — into the platform in a standardized and scalable way.
  • Build and maintain data models that deliver insights into operational performance in our European and US ambulance businesses.
  • Take ownership of the quality of your code by writing unit tests, performing peer code reviews, and contributing to technical documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve bugs and performance issues in the data solutions you build and the core platform components, asking for support from senior engineers when needed.
  • Contribute to team-level standards for code, templates, and infrastructure to improve robustness and support safe handling of sensitive operational data.
