Job description

About Impact Fund Denmark

Impact Fund Denmark, officially known as IFU (the Investment Fund for Developing Countries), is a Danish impact investor dedicated to contributing to green, just, and inclusive societies while supporting the Sustainable Development Goals. As a specialized development finance institution, the organization provides risk capital to companies operating across developing countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and parts of Europe, with investments made on commercial terms through equity, loans, and guarantees. Since its establishment, Impact Fund Denmark has co-invested in over 1,300 companies across more than 100 developing countries and emerging markets. The organization’s contracted investments total EUR 31 billion, with Impact Fund Denmark contributing EUR 3.4 billion of this amount. The organization is currently experiencing significant growth, with capital under management expanding from EUR 2.1 billion to EUR 5.0 billion over the coming years. This expansion reflects the organization’s increasing importance in the development finance landscape and its commitment to scaling impact investments. Impact Fund Denmark operates as a state-owned development finance institution under Danish governance and management standards. The organization focuses on four primary investment sectors: green energy and infrastructure, financial services, sustainable food systems, and healthcare in developing countries. The organization operates from its headquarters in Copenhagen, with regional offices supporting its global investment activities. As the organization continues to grow and become more international, it is strengthening its institutional foundations, including its People & Culture function, to support its evolution into a larger and more professional international investor.

About this Role

Impact Fund Denmark has experienced rapid growth in recent years, welcoming many new colleagues and evolving into a larger, more international investment organization. This expansion extends to the People & Culture function, which requires an experienced professional to support the organization through its next phase of development. This phase focuses on ensuring that organizational growth is managed effectively: helping teams integrate successfully, strengthening leadership capabilities, and building robust people practices that can support a more complex organization without unnecessary bureaucracy. This senior People & Culture role will serve the entire organization as a strategic partner to senior leaders on organizational, leadership, performance, and people matters. You will work closely with the Head of People & Culture and Executive Management, bringing confidence, experience, and sound judgment to challenge established thinking, shape people strategy, and lead its implementation. The role combines senior advisory responsibilities with direct ownership of selected People & Culture priorities and projects that cut across the organization. You will be expected to contribute expertise that colleagues across the People & Culture function can learn from and leverage. A significant portion of your work will involve partnering directly with leaders across the investment organization on varied organizational and people questions, including team structuring, capability planning, performance management, succession planning, and people-related decisions at the senior level. You will prepare analysis, recommendations, and decision material for Executive Management and the Board when relevant. Your role will require comfort moving between executive-level discussions and detailed implementation work, ensuring that strategic decisions translate into practical improvements and meaningful organizational change.

Responsibilities
  • Lead culture and organizational development initiatives, translating organizational values and strategic priorities into everyday leadership behaviors, stronger collaboration, and clear accountability for performance
  • Advise senior leaders and Executive Management on organizational, capability, performance, and complex people matters across headquarters and regional offices

  • Use people data to identify patterns, challenge assumptions, and support better organizational decisions
  • Take ownership of selected People & Culture projects that cut across the organization
  • Work with People Operations, Finance, and Legal to ensure people processes have clear approvals, appropriate controls, and traceable documentation supporting compliance and auditability under Danish public-sector auditing standards
  • Work closely with colleagues in Recruitment, People Operations, and People Development
  • Coach and mentor People & Culture colleagues to strengthen their business partnering skills and prepare them for broader responsibilities
  • Partner directly with senior investment leaders on organizational, leadership, performance, and people questions including team structure, capability needs, performance building, succession strengthening, and senior management decision support
Requirements
  • Substantial experience in a broad senior HR Business Partner, People Partner, or People leadership role in international organizations
  • Experience advising senior executives directly on organizational and people decisions

  • Professional fluency in Danish and English
  • Comfort working in a lean People & Culture function where senior professionals remain involved in delivery work
  • Ability to move comfortably between executive-level discussions, detailed analysis, and practical implementation conversations
Benefits
  • Hybrid working arrangement with up to 20% of working time from home starting after 6 months of employment
  • Close access to the Head of People & Culture and senior leaders across the organization
  • Considerable scope to influence how the organization organizes, leads, and develops its people as Impact Fund Denmark grows and consolidates
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful impact investments supporting green energy and infrastructure, financial services, sustainable food systems, and healthcare in developing countries
  • Permanent, full-time position with 39 hours per week including lunch
  • Access to professional development and mentoring opportunities within the People & Culture function
