Job summary

Maersk is seeking a Senior Naval Architect based in Copenhagen to support the global fleet and decarbonisation efforts. You will contribute across the vessel lifecycle from concept through major conversions to post‑design optimization, working with project managers, engineers, and external partners.

The role requires a degree in Naval Architecture and 5+ years of relevant ship design experience, with strong English communication and a proactive, collaborative mindset in a global organisation.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Naval Architecture and at least 5 years of ship design experience.
  • Experience with vessel design, statutory compliance, structural design or stability.
  • Experience on newbuilds or major conversions from owner/designer/class society perspectives.
  • Collaborative, proactive mindset in a global cross-functional organisation.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously improve the design and performance of Maersk’s container vessel fleet.
  • Lead and deliver engineering projects on time, within scope, and to high technical standards.
  • Act as technical authority and SME for your area; lead evaluations and design reviews with shipyards, consultants, classification societies, and equipment makers.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic initiatives and fast-paced technical projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers, site offices, shipyards, and external partners.
  • Promote a proactive culture with flat team structures and shared ownership.
