Job description

Are you a strategic thinker who thrives on turning complex data into actionable sales performance? We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to play an important role in refining our store and range planning strategies.

Our Senior Business Analyst, in our Range & Space Planning team, will play a key role in enhancing sales performance through data analytics and structured thinking. This role leverages data-driven insights to assess and refine store and range planning strategies, while balancing commercial and operational priorities across our owned and operated store network.

As our Senior Business Analyst, you will provide competitor benchmarking, department performance analysis, and develop structured methodologies to maximize return within our store network. You will also navigate complex stakeholder relationships, align priorities and deadlines across functions, and act as a mentor and day-to-day manager for a junior analyst. This role suits a data archaeologist who digs deep into numbers with genuine curiosity, asks the right questions, and connects analytical findings to commercial outcomes.

This is the role

This role leverages data-driven insights to assess and refine store and range planning strategies while balancing commercial and operational priorities. Based at Flying Tiger Copenhagen HQ in the heart of Copenhagen, this role reports to the Head of Retail Space Planning.

In this role you will:

  • Be an active and integrated part of the Trade team activities.
  • Optimize planning processes across products, categories, countries, and sales channels.
  • Develop and maintain a high-quality analytics function that supports informed, data-driven decision-making across the business.
  • Mentor and support the development of a junior analyst.
Main responsibilities
  • Retail Optimization: Conduct in-depth analysis to determine optimal store and category allocation. Utilize data-driven insights to balance commercial, operational, and customer experience priorities, ensuring efficient use of store space.
  • Store Database Management: Own and refine the store fixture process, ensuring accurate maintenance of databases, fixture libraries, position capturing, and replenishment parameters. Develop tracking reports to monitor space utilization.
  • Performance Measurement & Reporting: Evaluate the effects of layout and space changes on sales performance, conversion rates, and sales density. Assess planogram sales, stock weight, and revenue productivity relative to store size to refine SKU optimization. Create and maintain dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management: Navigate complex, cross-functional stakeholder relationships — aligning on different priorities and deadlines. Work closely with key business stakeholders, including the merchandise team, to align store planning initiatives with broader business objectives.
  • Promotional Analysis: Build promotional reporting by integrating competitor trends and historical product performance insights. Establish structured methodologies to optimize product assortment and maximize returns.
  • Process Improvement & Documentation: Identify and implement opportunities for process enhancements, streamlining workflows. Create and maintain comprehensive process documentation to standardize best practices and ensure consistency across store planning operations.
  • People Management: Support, guide, and develop the junior analyst in the team — including day-to-day task management, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
This is you
  • A genuine interest in retail - natural curiosity to dive deep into various matters independently and ask the right questions (the 'data archaeologist' mindset).
  • Strong SQL skills — ability to independently extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets.
  • Complex problem-solving ability - comfortable with ambiguity and able to structure analytical approaches from scratch.
  • Ability to navigate complicated stakeholder relationships and align different priorities and deadlines.
  • High level of Excel proficiency; knowledge of Cubes or similar analytical tools is a strong plus.
  • Strong communication skills - able to present complex findings clearly to a variety of audiences.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Patience and precision - a meticulous approach to data integrity and process.
  • Proficiency in Python - able to automate workflows, manipulate data, and build scalable analytical solutions.
  • Experience with PowerBI or a comparable BI/database tool - able to build and maintain analytical dashboards independently.
  • 2–3+ years of experience in a data-centric analytical role, preferably within retail or pricing.
  • Relevant master’s degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, finance, or a related field.
