Job summary

Flatpay in Denmark is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to shape and scale our POS mobile experience. You’ll own features from design through production, collaborating with Product, Design and backend teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable apps.

You will lead initiatives, mentor engineers, and drive architectures using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and AWS MQTT. The role blends hands-on coding with technical leadership in a fast‑growing fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems.
• Ability to lead technical projects with multiple engineers.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and shaping new products.
• Break down complex problems into pragmatic solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience building scalable backend platforms and APIs.
• CI/CD pipeline improvements.
• Collaborative mindset and constructive challenge.
• Experience in payments/fintech/e‑commerce is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and evolve features across the POS Android platform.
• Lead feature and platform initiatives across engineers, from discovery to production.
• Build and maintain Android POS features in Kotlin/Compose connected to printers and terminals.
• Own features from design through deployment and maintenance.
• Drive architectural decisions and long‑term technical improvements.
• Improve reliability, observability, performance and security of the platform.
• Mentor engineers via coaching, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Improve engineering practices, tooling and development experience.
• Contribute to testing, operational excellence and team culture.
