Job summary

Flatpay is hiring an Android Engineer to shape technical direction and own features across the POS platform. You will work with Product, Design and other engineers to build scalable Android solutions that integrate with printers, payment terminals and real-time AWS MQTT connections.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems.
• Comfortable with modern software practices, including testing and version control.
• Curious, pragmatic, and eager to learn new technologies.
• Strong communication and ownership mindset.
• Collaborative and constructive in idea discussions.
• Experience in payments/fintech, e-commerce, SaaS, or high-scale systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve features across our POS platform.
• Lead feature and platform initiatives involving multiple engineers, driving delivery from discovery through production.
• Build and maintain Android POS features in Kotlin/Compose that connect to printers and payment terminals using real-time AWS MQTT.
• Take ownership of features from design through deployment and maintenance.
• Drive architectural decisions and long-term technical improvements.
• Improve reliability, observability, performance, and security across the platform.
• Continuously improve engineering practices, tooling and development experience.
• Contribute to testing and a collaborative team culture.
