Job summary

Novo Nordisk A/S seeks a Senior Data Engineer for Supply Chain AI Solutions in Ballerup. You’ll build scalable data products and pipelines powering AI use cases, leading data engineering efforts from idea to production.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, including 3+ years in a senior role.
• Deep expertise in Azure Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows and Databricks SQL.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Apache Spark and SQL, with proven experience designing and building scalable, production-ready data pipelines and data products.
• Solid understanding of BI concepts, dimensional modelling, report and semantic layers, data integrations and self-service data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, coding best practices and agile ways of working such as Scrum.
• Professional proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate clearly with technical teams, business stakeholders and colleagues at different levels of the organisation.
• You are technically curious, take ownership, drive direction and stay on top of the latest trends in data engineering and AI.

Responsibilities

• Set the critical path for Data Engineering within the delivery team to ensure reliable, production-ready products for use cases.
• Design and implement data and model pipelines in Databricks, using Unity Catalog for governance and medallion architecture.
• Apply an AI-first engineering mindset to create robust, scalable data foundations for future AI-driven use cases.
• Work hands-on across the full engineering lifecycle from data modelling to testing, deployment, monitoring and improvement.
• Build high-quality data products and pipelines within our Databricks platform with focus on performance, governance and maintainability.
• Turn complex requirements into engineering priorities and deploy pragmatic solutions.
• Mentor data engineers through design sparring, code reviews and coaching.
• Contribute as a hands-on engineer while guiding more junior engineers and aligning with leadership.
