Job summary

Saildrone seeks a USV Pilot to join the European Mission Delivery team, reporting to the Denmark Operations Director. You will remotely pilot and monitor Saildrone’s autonomous surface vehicles worldwide, with a Copenhagen base and a 4-on/4-off schedule.

Join a mission-driven group focused on safe navigation, data delivery for ocean science and defense applications. Work involves hybrid arrangements, collaboration with US teams, and travel for conferences as needed.

Qualifications

• Sailing-specific CV detailing sea time and vessel command.
• Experience with remote monitoring of autonomous fleets.
• Ability to analyze maritime weather forecasts and ocean currents for navigation decisions.
• Ability to communicate real-time operational status clearly to internal stakeholders and customers.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid/remote environment and 4-on/4-off rotation.
• Knowledge of COLREGs and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform remote piloting and monitoring of Saildrone USVs to support continuous mission operations.
• Carry out passage-planning with safe navigation through shipping lanes.
• Collaborate with Technical Operations and Fleet Service to align on vessel status.
• Use Saildrone Mission Portal and internal channels for daily operations.
• Monitor navigational anomalies or payload issues and escalate when needed.
• Document milestones and handovers per watch requirements.
• Provide real-time updates to Mission Control Lead and deployed teams.
• Participate in required training, procedures, and tools for safe operations.
• Maintain watch commitments on a rotating 4-day-on / 4-day-off schedule including weekends.
